Viper Razor HD 4000 Rangefinder. The Razor HD 4000 is the essential companion for the extreme hunter, archer and shooter. The extremely effective angle compensated laser rangefinder features four targeting modes (Normal Mode, First Mode, Last Mode and Extended Laser Range Mode) for any ranging environment. The primary HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) range mode provides key angle compensated range information required by the vast majority of shooters in a simple, quick to read display. The Razor HD 4000 also has a LOS (Line of Sight) range mode and scan feature.

There are mixed reviews of this online and I have tried and owned different brands over the years. These appear to be a very quality body better than I expected and the glass is as bright as I could hope for. As it is 7x magnification its hard to directly compare but in terms of light gathering and clarity it is up there with a pair a Leica Trinovid at 8x. The reviews I read that were negative seemed to not understand how to use the various menu items to give readings in different scenarios I have tried them all with different subjects at known distances and it is spot on. You may occasionally get a misread but you normally know and I am happy to press again to double check. I have read out to 2200m handheld and its back pretty much instantly. I would highly recommend as my other option was to double up on binoculars and pay about 6x as much.
